Cleaning out your gutters, on a regular basis, will help avoid water intrusion into the home, where it isn't supposed to be. Full or clogged gutters can lead to damage to the roof, interior of the home, and to the foundation. Where there is water, there is a potential for mold and wood rot.
Heating and Cooling Systems
Filters on your heating system and your air conditioner keep the insides of those systems clean ad free of debris. Change them at least monthly. The insides of these systems can get clogged with dirt, dust, and anything else that floats through the air. This can cause them to fail or operate inefficiently, causing you to spend money you do not need to. Becoming clogged can also create an environment in which mold can grow and recirculate throughout your home.
Flower beds and decorative vegetation are absolutely wonderful for lightening our moods and they can add an overall aesthetic quality to any home, however they can be harmful to a home if not designed or maintained properly. Make sure your flowerbeds are at least 6 inches lower than any type of siding materials on your home. The plants should also be at least 6 inches from the home to allow air circulation between the plants and the wall of your home. Plants retain a lot of moisture, which is bad for a home.
